Electro Dreams May 31 2010

Pretty chill night the poor weather is back which defiantly sucks but nothing you can do really. The good news of the day is that I have a location to store my car for the year so I am pretty stoked on that. A barn full of old cars sounds like a dream to most people. Closed the night out with some new electro and rave tracks that get you really pumped to sleep in my case sleep. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Dance To Mohair May 30 2010

I must say that it was a good day today. First off I woke up without my alarm, which is always a good start to the day, and second it was not raining so that meant that I could ride the mountain bike to work. Riding that bike is so much fun every little hump, bump, corner, or anything can be used to add a little spice to the commute. Had a pretty close call on a pedestrian island that I hit as a small hip this morning though.

I was super excited to get home today because I wanted to hear the song “night by night” by Chromeo again because I had it stuck in my head all day. I must say that chromeo needs way more respect all of there songs just get you to move and dance no matter where you are.

Mom got back from her trip to merit and decided to treat herself to a new car which is hella awesome. I offered a direct swap for my 1970 to mike in the morning but no takers surprisingly. She said she got me a gift from the trip. I asked what it was and heard that they were socks. So needless to say I initially was not to pumped. It is kind of like getting tires for Christmas. I thought that until I put them on. They are like pillows for your feet. Seriously contemplating raising mohair goats so that I can create a house of the stuff.

Ended off the night with a nice long board sesh. I was getting a little cabin fever so I decided to bust out the board. There is nothing better the going mach 10 down a dead calm street with no cars and just carving from side to side. It is not where you get to it is how to get to that location. The same could be said for the trip; and bike touring in general. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Bagpipes = Cat Call May 29 2010

So today was a little weird. I was in one of those post sickness moods where you almost feel like your about to pass out every time you go up or down stairs. I think this light-headedness has affected my music choice as well. Lets just say I got home and it was a mix of bagpipes and opera. Not even an entire opera just the climax’s of many where they hut the high note for like 4 minutes. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording. P.S. I do not understand this but my cat always comes and sits on my lap when I play the bagpipes.

Sick Day May 28 2010

Sick days suck. I woke up and it felt as if someone had there fist shoved down my throat when I swallowed. The good thing is that it got better through the day. To the point where I felt giddy enough to go out with Kristi kristy mia and new addition marshell. Marshell is a pretty cool guy I got a good vibe from him so we will see where that road leads. Hopefully tomorrow goes even better. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Halls... I thought they were candy May 27 2010

It feels a little weird to be entering my blog so early in the evening. I am not feeling so hot today to say the least. I have been doming halls like they were gummy bears all day to try to be able to swallow. I am sorry but benlin is drowsy even if they say it is not you still feel groggy as poop. And poop is pretty groggy.

The stage was set I was feeling like poop and the house was infested with germs. I sucked it up and cleaned the whole upstairs like a champ. That bathroom had never been so spotless. Here is another weird thing I do I always shave my head before I clean… maybe I secretly want to feel like mr.clean when I am cleaning.

After cleaning I went to work and fixed the rack on my bike and restocked my tube supply for the trip. Less then a month to go. My dream is very quickly going to become a reality. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Do Nothing Day May 26 2010

Well that was a letdown of a day off. I got outside leaving for a nice night of bike touing and said mom pray for no rain. As soon as I walk out the door what do you know it starts raining. The cool thing was that even in the short few k’s I rode a few people asked where I was off to and were honestly interested which was really cool. Hopefully stir up some blog interest.

The rest of the day was boring all my plans for the night fell through so I caught up on some sleep and good old family time. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

One Month May 25 2010

Long day. What more can I say I do not even want to type. Work was horrid to start the day off awesome. But seeing mark, Natasha and Austin really helped. I need to get outa here tomorrow though and put some k’s on the bike and camp. Please pray for no rain.

Happy Victoria Day May 24 2010

O hello Victoria day. Thank you for letting me sleep in and get some much needed rest.

After everyone bailed on the bike trip after work I was feeling a little down. That is until JJ came in and said lets ride eagle so we did after we got all our crap together. It was a little demoralizing again because I still went super slow and walked some stuff but I figure it was about 10 times better then last time. It is so hard getting the confidence back once u walk something. It is actually very frustrating because if you flow it then it all works.

After the ride I ripped down the power lines and bailed at the end trying my best to do a dh turn impression. Check one for trying to be pro when your not. Also hit the pump track for 30 mins to get a good sweat going. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording

Ratatat May 23 2010

Well after a late night last night getting up early for work this morning was a little rough. I decided that 10 minutes in bed extra was worth packing breakfast as apposed to eating it at home. After a nice day at work JJ, Rhys and I went over to Burnaby mountain and did a few laps. I love how well my bike climbs it is simply amazing. I only had one section where my butt puckered a little. I was ripping at mach 10 ish mabey mach 7.8 but we will round up, then this steep hairpin comes out of nowhere I slam on my brakes and almost go over the bars into a prickle bush. Somehow I managed to save it and turn it into like a sweet nosemanual turn… or at least it felt that awesome.

Now the only problem I have is my commuter bike is at work so when I wake up tomorrow I have to scramble to find a way to work. Remember if life is worth living it is worth recording. P.S. I have had pretty much every Ratatat song stuck in my head the past couple days. I have no clue why but the beats jsut seem to be meshing with my moods.

Panago Panic May 22 2010

Was a pretty busy day at work so we fallowed it up with a nice staff mountain bike ride. We swapped a few lies and enjoyed a nice evening together. Panago overpriced pizza has never tasted so great. Remember if life is worth living it is worth recording.

New Bike May 21 2010

The start of the work week. What more do I need to say. It was actually a really good day though. I got to help Corey set up his new mountain bike which is so sick. The fitting that I got JJ to do went super smooth. Really I have nothing to complain about.

It was a pretty relaxing night as well came home chilled and chatted with a few friends finished installing all the junk on my laptop and listened to a nice array of music. Tonight’s vibe seemed to fit nicely with Patrick Watson for whatever reason. Cheers to tomorrow. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Tough As A Book May 20 2010

Well today was a pretty boring day. Started off well had lunch with the gang which was nice. All you can eat sushi bad idea if you are going to ride a bike afterwards. I then went to go pick up my new laptop which I am pretty stoked on. I have to say this screw futureshop and best but they are such robots they read from a list what everything has and does. One of the reason I love London drugs is because they always carry weirder stuff, knowledgeable and normal staff, and good deals. I got a tough book for a smoking price and really liked my salesmen so it was a good combo.

About the only thing that didn’t go smooth was the set-up of the computer. The cool thing with the tough book is it literally starts with nothing unlike every other compute on the market so you build it up which gets the geek in me excited.

Other then that it was a pretty tame night my original plans fell through, then the back up plans never lifted off, then everyone was busy. Hurray for last minute planning story of my life. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Packing May 19 2010

Well that was a pretty eventful day I have to say. Woke up and called my dad and asked if he wanted to be the taxi for the day which he didn’t mind. We made our way downtown which is rare for us country bumbkins. Now after making 3 wrong turns we finally ended up at our destination. After a little shopping we decided to go for a little stroll and what happened next was pretty awesome to watch. It was a little t bone action on Broadway. Now the only reason it was awesome was because no one was hurt. I kid you not though the front bumper of this car flew off. From a block away you could hear the guy dropping f bombs like we were in Iraq. Then he proceeded to pick up his bumper and place it in his rear seat.

After a good gelato sesh I came home and start to pack. I made a lot of progress and am about 97% done. All that is left are some new cycling shorts, and all my documents. The documents are the crappy part that I am not looking forward to at all. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Best Lolcat Ever May 18 2010

First off I can not stop watching this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfmgWcF_3vU . Best thing ever. That weird thing about the cat is that it does not blink it is like it is staring into my soul.

I want to thank Shaw TV I am super stoked on my little bit on TV today. Peng you did a legit job editing, and Sunny thanks for putting up with a shmuck like me.

Today was a pretty weird day. I got all messed up because I laid down and a napped. But I think my nap turned into a short sleep. Two reasons I woke up and the day had turned to night, and it lasted more then four hours. Have a good night because now I will be up forever. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

It Is Official I Am Weird May 17 2010

The final stages of packing have commenced. I am in the last blitz to get all my junk. Today was all the extra bike gear that I need to fix everything if something goes wrong. The next step is to get the rest of my camping gear. Really I only need stuff to store food from bears, and a first aid kit. Mind you I do like to eat and I do not like being a meal for other animals.

I am weird I will come out and say that. I was so stoked on my new multi tool today that I analyzed its construction for about 20 minutes then proceeded to read the owners manual. To sum up the reading it said this is a tool you are an idiot for reading this.

Other then that was a pretty normal day. It was nice getting back on the touring bike today and shaving a few minutes off my commute. Just means that I can waste some extra time watching biking videos in the morning while eating a gigantic bowl of cheerio’s. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

P.S. I am writing this down so that I hopefully correct this behaviour. I do not understand why when I make a triple decker pb and j sandwich that I always do peanut butter first on two slices then sandwich the jam in the centre. It makes for a bad pb to j ratio and also makes the centre slice soggy. I have to step it up.

Pump Track Madness May 16 2010

Was a good bounce back day. Went riding with Kev. He had a rough week so it was good to get out and b.s. with him a little bit to take his mind off school. I took him on a new trail which was super sick. I then proceeded the ride the raised ladder I always screw up on again. After I ripped down the power lines to get to the dirt jump park. The power lines were even more sketchy this time as I forgot to unlock my suspension and was skidding everywhere. Spent a good hour at the pump track working on my skills and only wiped out once tacking a corner way to fast. Now it is time to relax and let Sunday night pass me by. Remember if life’s worth living it worth recording.

Upright and Breathing May 15 2010

It was a pretty rough day today not going to lie. Now the only reason it was not so hot was because I had expectations of it going smooth which it did not. I got off work not so stoked and was looking forward to hanging out with some friends. Thinking I was gunna get picked up I left my bike at work. Five minutes after I get a phone call saying plans have changed sorry. So then I had to walk home which took hella long and made my already sore feet worse.

On the plus side I get to ride with kev tomorrow so that should be good, and I have a few new books to read so all is good in the hood. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Road Bikers Can't Jump May 14 2010

What a crazy day. It was 110% from 11:30 till 8. I have to say the highlight of my job is fitting bicycles. It feels so good to address someone’s issue on a bike which makes them want to ride even more. You get to know someone a lot better as well. It is almost like I am not a salesmen I am there bud helping make them a better rider.

After a crazy day nothing is better then unwinding at the dirt jump park. Rocked the pump track for an hour then attempted jumping for my first time. I will not mention what an epic fail that was. This kid on a mckinnley Costco bike was woopin my butt. Granted it was my first time but I pooped the bed hard. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

I Hear Pigeons Love Chipoltle Peppers May 13 2010

Well I just knew it was going to be a good day by the dream I had last night. All I remember, or maybe all I need to remember that a pigeon ate a chipoltle pepper fresh off of the sun baking palate then spat fire which I then ate. Now I tried to read into this but all I got was nothing. I woke up after and went what the heck is going on in my brain.

So I wake up things are going smooth, shave my head and face. You know average Sunday morning stuff. I then headed out to the bank and got all my banking stuff figured out for the trip. At least the account aspect of banking of the trip. The even better thing was they were running early which fits my style perfect and I was out of there before my appointment was even supposed to start.

Then I rip back home and had a few minute to kill when I hear a knock on the door. It was my dad which was kind of a surprise. So we ended up going for a nice 3 hour hike through minnikhada park which is one of my favourite places to spend time. His leg seems to be getting stronger, or at least a little less fragile. It was kind of funny watching him move around though because it sure is not like a gazelle through the woods.

On the ride back it was starting to get a little warm so we stopped in at the 7 11 and got the first slurpee of the slurpee season which started today. How do you determine slurpee season you take the square root of x to the third power then multiple by the temperature. That number then is divided by 4 and that will give you the exact date of the slurpee solstice.

It seemed as though as soon as I got home I was back out of the door again. I hauled my butt over to the shop to meet up with J.J. to go for a ride. When I got to the shop I would have to say that I did a pretty stellar job of helping a few people out to get J.J. out a little sooner.

Once I broke him out we went and rode stars a.k.a. one of my favourite bike trail. He took me a new way up this technical climb which led us right into the trail. The first lap was amazing. I have never cleaned this trail before but I was feelin it. The bike was going exactly where I wanted it to. This wicked steep ladder I nailed which never happens, the drop that I almost always endo on I nailed, then the raised skinny that I always seem to have issues with I rode at what seemed mach 10. So I was super pumped on that. We did another two laps where it was more of the same. He took me on a different route which I had never ridden and it was super sweet switch back after switchback. When you are pumping a bike through a trail it is kind of like music in a way. Maybe that is why so many biking videos come with such good music. I know good is such a subjective term.

After we finished riding I rode down the power lines which was AWSOME never been that fast off road before. The only sketchy part was it is all loose gravel so im hauling see a corner and like a dh racer scrub all my speed and scared the poo literally out of a dog. After the power line headed to the pump track and did a few laps to get the already sore upper body working and work on my bike handling skills. I rode home and the timing was perfect about 5 mins away I hit the wall and was dead. Now that I am here I now realize that this was one heck of an awesome day.

Boys Night > Training May 12 2010

Good morning world. I left my blinds open so I woke up way to early for a day off, but on the plus side the cat was deterred from sleeping on my bed. I think she must be a vampire. She always finds the darkest coldest spot in the house and just lays there until night time. Mind you if I had fur then I guess I would want to rest somewhere that was nice and cool.

Anyways I will get back on track here. I woke up and was feelin spunky enough to clean the entire games room, and my room from top to bottom. I have not seen them this clean since we moved in. Even more stoked that I found a place to use my bike fork that I converted into a cup holder. I also finally got my butt in gear and loaded my digital picture frame with some pictures. The only thing I don’t understand is how canon can get away with making a 16gb memory car. I mean that’s only like 4 or 5 pictures on my slr. So it works but only displays a few studly pictures.

Next up was my interview with Shaw. Was pretty solid Sunny and Peng were super cool about everything. Peng is a crazy man hanging a multi thousand dollar camera out a moving car as I ride by. In all it all went great so we will see how it turns out next week.

After that I had a bit of pent up energy so I went to go visit Joe and Mario. Found out that joes brother did pretty much the same thing to his leg that dad did to his. It was good getting some boys time in but Jesus is that house load. I guess when u are def you have to turn it up but I had a pounding headache by the time I left. It was defs worth it though. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Photos How I Loath You May 11 2010

Well that was a big old fail of a night. I spent the night trying to get my blog to have a slideshow on it. First problem all the programs they recommend cost money once you hit a certain size limit which wont work because I will have a lot of pictures. So after creating 3 separate accounts and then deleting them I was left simply linking my facebook page to the blog. I guess it works just as well.

I found Picasa especially frustrating. First I found out that it is run by google. Now I realize that google owns everything but they also link everything together. So when I created this new account I already somehow had pictures on it which was frustrating and almost felt like an invasion of privacy. The came the download of the program. The programm does not allow you to select the photos it uploads it just scans everything on your computer. Now that is not cool because again it felt like they are all up on my computers grill. So after a solid 2 hours of frustration I was left at square one. Nothing lost nothing gained.

In other news Eagle ridge hospital is game to game the blog so cheers to the next year of reading. In even more news the blog will be getting some tv time in a shaw tv interview tomorrow. I am a little nervous and somehow have to get both my bike home from my work in time for the interview as well as shave. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

The Simple Life May 10 2010

What a stellar day had a solid day at work then spent the night with a good buddy. It started with my first bubble tea experience and was fallowed up with a very simple yet enjoyable night. It is nice to keep things simple. Anyways I am going to make some dinner and get to bed early. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Two Dots May 9 2010

So it is awesome going to sleep a little earlier I feel so much more refreshed for the day. Really did not do much today other then appreciate my mother n big deal or anything. It was one heck of a task commuting home with a huge hanging basket in one arm and the handlebar in the other all while trying to pedal. It was defiantly a good workout for the night. In other new I watched the best 5 minute cycling video I have ever seen. My eyes felt thankful to watch it. http://www.pinkbike.com/video/136531 just amazing. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Busy Day... May 8 2010

So good news. I woke up early this morning. It wa amazing I felt like I had so much time before work it was rendonk. What it is redonk you ask. It is the word ridiculous to the tenth power. You then take the square root of that to the x and that will give you redonk on many different levels depending on what x is.

In other news I am officially in love with mantracker. He hunts the pray down like no tomorrow. He can look and a leaf in the wind and go the prey blew this with a fart the released about 15 mins ago from a southerly direction… a haa they are headed to the river lets set a trap.

As you can tell I had nothing exciting happen today. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

The Usual Rant May 7 2010

Can I just say that the late shift sucks again. I woke up at the same time as I usually do which was my bad then I tried to sleep again and that failed. So I was left with an hour extra to kill and nothing to do but shave my already bald head, and take an extra long shower.

Other then the morning the night was pretty tame. My plans fell through so I just boarded home and spent the night doing a bit of reading and talking with norco. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

An Great End To Another Great Weekend May 6 2010

Here comes the working week wooo hooo. Today was a pretty stellar day have to say. Got some good one on one time with the sister unit when we went to the mall. I do not know what it is but when she leaves for more then a few weeks it feels like I have to get to re know her.

When I got home I decided that this beautiful BC day was a prefect day to go mountain biking. I was right. When Kev and I went up to eagle mountain the trails were beautiful. The were wet enough to be tacky but were dry enough that you were not sliding around. We did two full laps which is a lot when you are pushing it 110% and spinning your legs like a beaver. Those trails are sweet because you rip it at a super fast speed then once your heart is pumping after a good downhill you have to point your butt up the mountain.

The night was pretty awesome as well Kristi and I watched a movie that corey burned for me called the man who cycled the America. It documents a guy who did a very similar route to what I want to do with a few major tweaks. It was actually pretty eye opening and made me want to do it even more. See his ups and downs makes me want to experience those same feelings. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Can Complain May 5 2010

My Saturdays always seem to fly by. That is usually because I do not wake up tilll about 10a.m. so when I looked at my clock and saw 9a.m. I was pumped. That is until I go downstairs to get myself some cereal and all the other clocks say 10a.m. At first I was a little confused and thought someone had tricked my but apparently I changed my clock in my sleep.

On the plus side I didn’t have to do any laundry today because I got that out of the way earlier in the week. So that freed up some time to go mountain biking. The wind has done some damage to the trails so I spent a little time cleaning up some fallen branches. I decided to ride flywheel which is a trail that was decommissioned for no reason.

When I got home I fired off an email to kev to see if he wanted to spend some time rebuilding it. After that it was time to get ready to go over to kristi’s to watch the game. I got there before everyone else as usually and went out to fire up my car for the first time in a few months. I was excepting it to be rusted into nothing and require jumper cables t start. To my surprise it needed nothing and fired up the first try and ran perfectly smooth. Even better I found my expensive Oakley’s under the seat.

The game was bull. The calls all went against us, but in the end they did score so we can only blame ourselves for that. It was good to see the whole crew again. Joe and Mario where joe and Mario. Aaron and Aaron where goofy as usually, and dana and heather added there zest. In the end great Wednesday. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

TGIF May 4 2010

So I thought I had the house to myself this morning so I was belting my heart out in the shower to a little bit of the smiths. Little did I know that I was not home alone. Very quickly I learned that leaving the door open was not worth getting rid of the steam faster.

I don’t know what it is about Tuesdays but I am always so tempted to go buy scones from cobs. They are so good. Monday afternoons around 2:30-2:45 they bake them so I guess it takes a full day for the awesomeness to sink in. I was strong this week ad said no. I stuck to my peanut butter and banana sandwich.

After work I pedaled over to kristi’s for a visit. Good news is she is movie back to poco so I get to see a little more of my best friend. I was a little antsy t leave though as I did want to go mountain biking…. Which didn’t happen. I didn’t want to spend the hour cleaning myself and the bike if the pounds of mud that would have come home with me. Instead I went an hammered out a solid 30k of dyke riding. Man does that bike pedal like a demon good job Norco.

One home I realized I forgot my key so I had to do the doorbell ring of shame. I do not know how I am going to live on my own when I get back I forget stuff way to easy. That will be the nice thing about living out of 6 bags on my bike for a year I wont have much to loose. That being said if I do loose something then it will be something big. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.

Dropped It! May 3 2010

Horray for waking up an hour late. I have never showered that quick in my life. It was as smooth as a car wash. I also discovered brushing my teeth in the shower cuts 2 mins off my get ready time. Also I found out that I yelled at my step dad in the dead of my sleep. He dropped and broke a plate and I yelled “dropped it”! I can not explain it but it clearly tuckered me out enough to over sleep my deathly loud alarm.

I have settled into a routine which is not a good thing. I do not like routine it means that I am getting comfortable Once you get comfortable shit usually goes down. Come home eat, watch some vids, blog, and review bikes. Need to change this up. Tomorrow mountain bike ride rain or shine.

Great Day May 2 2010

So whats better then mountain biking. Working an extra hour not paid, and coming home to clean the bathroom and do laundry! That was my day in a nut shell. I am gunna go sleep this Sunday off. On the plus side its supposed to be nice tomorrow.

Bike Geek. I Prefer History Nerd May 1 2010

So I am officially a geek. After a long 10 hour shift at work I decided to relax by learning about old post wwII prototype plains. Ask me why. Why? I have no clue it is information that I will never use in my life. So that was pretty much my night laid low and watch some documentaries. Tomorrow should be good if its nice means I will get to go mountain biking. Remember if life is worth living its worth recording.
